StarTimes Uganda Premier League

URA FC vs Vipers SC

Arena of Visions – Ndejje University, Bombo.

Kick-off: 1300hrs (EAT)

The second will tackle first in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Saturday as URA FC prepare to welcome title rivals Vipers SC at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje University, Bombo.

Both teams are level on 30 points with two games to play until the end of the first round. Vipers lead the way courtesy of a bigger goal difference, but both teams have a chance of gaining an absolute advantage in what is shaping up to be the closest title challenge in years.

A look at how the top 8 on the StarTimes Table looks like ahead of this fixture.

The Tax Collectors hold the best form in the division-winning their last five games on the bounce. URA FC has recorded a near-perfect run on the road winning all but one of their six games away from home.

At home though, they have had a couple of wobbles, winning four of seven fixtures at Ndejje, drawing against Wakiso Giants and Bright Stars while they lost to Express in what is their only defeat this season. As a result, their 30 points from 13 games have left them second which represents an excellent start to the season; the club’s best start to a campaign under Sam Ssimbwa.

Vipers have also had an excellent season so far winning six of their last seven league fixtures. This saw their 11 games unbeaten record (stretching from the back end of last season) come to an end with defeat to Mbarara City at Kakyeka last week.

The visitors will enter Saturday’s clash off the back of an impressive 3-0 win against SC Villa in the league on Wednesday evening which allowed them to regain the top spot over URA.

Sebwalunyo Hannington has kept 3 clean sheets in his last three games.

There have been considerable worries over Vipers’ away record this season as they have failed to win in three of their five games drawing against Kyetume and Express while they lost to Mbarara.

URA will be confident heading into the fixture as they have kept clean sheets in each of their last four games but Vipers will have every reason to think that they can harm their hosts.

Kagimu Shafik has scored two and assisted four times in his last six games for URA FC.

URA has won three of the last four meetings against Vipers since 2018 with only Vipers’ 1-0 victory in November 2019 the only blemish to the hosts’ dominant record over Vipers.

URA ran out 3-1 victors over Vipers the last time the two sides met with each of the Venoms’ last two victories at URA coming via a 1-0 scoreline.

Cromwel is on fire and has scored five goals in seven apps for URA FC this season.

AMon the players expected to miss for URAFC incude Ojera Joackiam and Alionzi Nafian who continue to nurse injuries sustained in our recent matches. Nunda Jackson continues to be out following a long term injury.
