Five Tax Collectors, headed by their captain have made it to the final Uganda Cranes squad to face Rwanda in a World Cup qualification double-header.
Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was impressed by URA midfielder Shafik Kagimu and strikers Steven Mukwala and Cromwel Rwothomio as he named them in his final 25-man squad.
Unlike his counterpart, Mukwala made his debut against Mali and this will be Rwothomios first-ever appearance for the Cranes senior team or final squad of any tournament.
Goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi and defender Najib Fesali are also part of the Uganda squad that flew out to Kigali on Tuesday to play Rwanda on Thursday before returning to host the same opponents at Kitende three days later.
Fesali just returned to URA from loan at Gaddafi FC where he spent the entire 2019/20 season.
Only until a few weeks back when the defender made his debut against Ethiopian Coffee SC, Fesali had never featured for URA ever since he was signed.
The Cranes sit third of the four-team table with two points from two matches while Rwanda who has managed just a point from two games sit rock bottom. The other two teams in the group are Mali and Kenya.
Only one ultimate winner of the group will take part in a two-legged playoff that will see the eventual victor take up one of the five slots to represent Africa in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
